I am searching for information on the 10th/11th Alabama Cavalry Regiments, which if I understand correctly, was initially Colonel Jeffery Forrest's Regiment of Alabama Cavalry. After Colonel Forrest's death at Okolona, the regiment was reformed into the 10th Alabama Cav, and then into the 11th Alabama Cav. I am trying to find a muster roll of the soldiers that were initially in Colonel Forrest's regiment, before they were reformed. I would like to learn more about the unit, and my ancestors that belonged to this regiment. I am particularly interested in finding information on James M. Briley. The only record of him I can find shows him as being AWOL, but he later received a pension, so I thought that he must have come back to the regiment. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
