Today (5.9.2001) is the anniversary of the birth of Juliet Ann Opie Hopkins in 1818. She was living in Alabama with her husband when in 1861 she was made the superintendent of the office of hospital agent after it was created by the Alabama Legislature.

During the CW she tended wounded soldiers in the field and was herself wounded at the battle of Seven Pines. When she died in 1890, she was given a military burial in Arlington National Cemetery.

I'm curious if she is the only person with a CSA history that had this honor conferred?
