Confederate Victories
Mon May 7 12:39:10 2001

What about battles of confederate victory. That battlefield report looks like a union list. What about
Sulphur Creek Trestle in Limestone County. This occured
the day after Forrest captured Athens. Over two hundred
union soldiers were killed in the artillery barrage. The
confederates expelled 800 shells that morning. They had
Morton's battery, Thrall's, Ferrell's Georgia Battery, and
one more I can't recall without looking it up. Sulphur Creek Trestle is about 10 miles north of Athens. A person,
I believe Andy Dubois built a house directly on top of the fort.(too bad). They say he has a whole room of collectibles from the battlefield.
The Athens fort has only a small remnant of rifle pits
left. It sits on Coleman hill 1/4 mile southwest of the
courthouse. An abandoned school, Trinity, sits where the
fort once was.
What about Col. Streight's capture.
