I'll have to check my source on the "sky blue". I think that we are probably both correct on this. Your regulations came out in March 1861. The AVC was formed early in 1860 (I have the exact date in my file, if its important to anyone). If I recall correctly, early 1860 is the time of the reference to sky blue. Perhaps they changed to the light blue after about a year of the sky blue.

There is a reference in the O.R.'s, in 1865, to "gray uniforms of recent import from England", being worn by the "called up" reserves. I wonder if this was under another contract, or actually from the Irish contract.

My theory is that "cadet grey" is the same as "Tuscaloosa Grey Wool", based on the color of the uniforms used by the cadets at the University of Alabama and supplied locally. But, that is just conjecture.
