Dr. Martin Patrick Roberts,Seccession Vote
Thu May 3 14:44:36 2001
Can someone help me prove without a doubt Dr. Roberts did indeed vote Al for secession? He became Captain of the New Market Rebels and is buried at the Mount Paran Cemetery at New Market. I have proof somewhere...a friend,Charles Rice in his book,Hard Times-The Civil War in Huntsville and North Alabama writes on page 9/10.."In fact, during the 1860 Christmas Day vote for delegates to the proposed Alabama secession convention, "cooperationist" candidates Nicholas Davis and Jeremiah Clemens easily defeated the secessionists George P. Beirne and Dr. M.P.Roberts."
