Can anyone tell me what the numbers mean on Military records as shown on medical cards?? Usually there's as many as 10-15 entries listed on an individual's card. Also as I have researched, there is very little information about the military hospitals that were used during the Civil War. For instance, my ggrandfather(with the the 3rd AL Cav.) was shot in Shelbyville, TN and wound up in the U.S.A. General Hospital in Chester, Pennsylvania---( he travelled through Camp Chase and Fort Delaware on his way and thank God they didn't hold him in either place). Interested in any records the hospitals may have on prisoners as I don't know the extent of my ggrandfather's injury.
