The organization of the 15th Confederate Cavalry (1st Reg. Ala. and Fla. Cavalry) was completed in September 1863, by the consolidation of Murphy's Battalion Alabama Cav., 3rd Batallion Florida Cav, Captain Arrington's and Barlow's Companies Alabama Cav. and Captain Smith's Co. of Florida Cav.
15th Con. Cav.CSA; Co. A was formerly Co. A, 3rd Batt. Florida Cav., Co. B was formerly Captain Richard Smith's Co. of Florida Cav., Co. C. was formerly Captain Barlow's Co. of Ala. Cav., Co. D was formerly Co. B of 3rd Battalion Ala. Cav., Co. E. was formerly Co. C of 3rd Battalion Fla. Cav., Co. F was formerly Captain Arrington's Co. A, City Troop, Mobile, Ala., Co. G was formerly Co. B. Mruphy's Batt. Ala. Cav., Co. H was formerly Co. C. Murphy's Batt. Ala. Cav., Co. I was formerly Co. D 3rd Battalion Fla. Cav. and Co. K was formerly Co. D Murphy's Battalion. They were at Camp Hall's Mill near Mobile for a time and took part in the raid to the "Free State of Jones". Art Green.
