Possibly. However, Baldwin was the largest county in Alabama and (with the exception of Winston) was the least populated. For that reason it was quite difficult to create companies from residents of Baldwin. General Clanton tended to recruit over a wide area, including much of the southern half of the state except Mobile. In my experience with Clanton's units, there are usually a number of men from various counties in any one company. If Company "A", 6th Cavalry was supposed to be from Coffee County, you can find several members from other counties on its rolls. I'm not be surprised to see a Baldwin resident in this company. If his record indicates a different residence, we may question the identification.
