1866 Alabama Census

Something I did not know.........the 1866 Alabama Census taken after the war lists the head of household and enumerates the other children and adults by gender and age in the same fashion as the census records prior to 1850. At the far right end of the census is an enumeration for "Soliers" with categories of "Killed", "Died of Disease", and "Disabled". This helped me to verify that my ggg-grandfather and his first born son both died as soldiers in the war, as my ggg-grandmother was listed as head of household, one male adult and one male child were missing from the family with 2 enumerated under Soldiers Died of Disease...actually looked like the word "Dead" on this particular page of the census.
