Liberty Community is where I suspect; as I recall this was originally called Liberty Hill. But, there may be a Liberty Hill in Fayette/Lamar Co.
I think that you and I spelled Luxapalila the same. However, it has been spelled many ways over the years.
Yes, the line was further north by just a little. Maybe a mile or two.
So far, I have identified over 20 men of the 26th Ala. Inf. who were residents of Pickens County at some point in their lives. Its harder to prove where they were living at the time of enlistment, but some are known to have been living in Pickens County when they enlisted. I haven't looked at these close enough to see where they enlisted. Most were in Company K or C, but Pickens County was represented in several company (this includes men known to be residing in Pickens County at the time of enlistment).
