A message from Tom Elmore stated that the 53 Va entered battle with an estimated 36 officers and 399 enlisted,or an average of 3 officers, 40 men per company(Busey and Martin). The Supplement to the Official Records states that Co I had 2 Officers, 25 men captured, with i officer and 16 men wounded (some were likely among the captured), so it is quite possible that John Bradner was one of three unwounded men from his Company to gather back on Seminary ridge after the charge.. Thank you for your information...Where can I find more information about Co I of the 53 VA...my sons Alfred Dunnreath Moorefield II and Edward Lucas Moorefield are 17 and 18 and would like to know more about their father's Confederate Grandfather..(their dad lives in NC and since we're almost divorced, we don't communicate too much.. Thanks, Deby
