Thanks for the searching, Alan.

As I posted originally, from the notes of the Ormand Family historian, James Morrison Orman(d) (born Feb 6, 1824) was found in Company "D" of the 7th, listed as "Orman, J." (Many Ormands dropped the "d" at the end of their name.)

Yes, he was alive ---until September 16th, anyway--- in 1907, residing along Cedar Creek, six miles south of Russellvile, in Franklin County. There is a reference to a newspaper clipping, published in the Franklin Times and dated September 20, 1906, announcing his funeral services, but I believe this date to be a transcription error. A quote from the clipping, as contained in the Ormand Family history, is: "... Four years of his life were given to the lost cause of the Confederacy and no man ever made a truer soldier in defense of his country and principles that he held to be just and right."

Orman(d) seems to have been a prosperous farmer, so I question whether he would have applied for a pension. His wife passed in 1877.
