I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The 'Orman' in the 7th Ala. Cav. Regt. is a "D. Orman". He enlisted at Montgomery in Sept. 1863 and destered a few days later; no later record. None of the companies of the 7th Ala. Cav. were from the Tennessee Valley; none any farther north than Shelby and Pickens County. Russell's 4th Cavalry is a somewhat better candidate, being recruited mainly in the Tennessee Valley, but all those companies are from areas east of Decatur, nothing west of that point.

I looked in Russell's 4th Cav. and saw nothing hopeful. I've not looked at Roddey's 4th, but did look at the C.S.A index and saw nothing hopeful there, either. Roddey's regiment should be fertile ground for anyone who had Frankllin County antecendents. There are five or more companies from Franklin County.

Was this man living in Alabama in 1907? If so, where? Did he or his widow file a pension application? What's the source of your information about his war-time service?
