I have not been successful in finding any information on my ancestor's regiment. His wife's pension application lists him as a private in "Company E of the 15. Conf. Regiment Cavalry Volunteers". However, I cannot find this regiment or him listed anywhere. His name was John Green Callaway. Any help greatly appreciated. The family story is told that he was taken prisoner and brought to Ship Island and I thought maybe it was the Battle of Blakeley but I can't see where a 15th regiment was involved. ????
