Calhoun Guards and Pickens Tigers

Pickens Tigers were Company E of the 25th. Can't recall where I first saw it, but I've seen it referenced as such in several places since. One place is in one of the two Pickens County heritage/family books.

I agree that it appears on the surface that the Pickens Co. Calhoun Guards were not mustered into the 2nd, or if they were it was for only a very short period. It appears that the company was broken up into two or three groups and assigned to different regiments (two of those being the 11th Ala. Inf, Co. H, and Loomis' Battalion).

D.M. Richards was a Private in the Calhoun Guards according to the second list of members. I can't remember off the top of my head where I found that listing. It must have been in the ADAH. Otherwise, it must have been a list published in the Pickens County newspaper in 1861 as they were leaving the county for induction into Confederate service. As I recall, it was definitely not an AVC list. I'll check my files to see what I can find about it. As I recall, whatever the source, it was indicated that the group was leaving or had left the county or was already elswhere as a group for induction.
