Alan !!
Thanks so much for the summary. My 2nd Great Grandfather was a member of the "Slaughter Guards," (Co. C)..or rather, that's what I've been told. Have you any info on engagements for them? My notes indicate that he may have served on Co. D. as well.
Perhaps when you've got a sec, you could post the servicemen for each company here??
The timeline for L.P. Holley was short, but sweet back then:
Oct. 26, 1861 - New Orleans, enlisted into Capt. O'Hara's Co.
(Pelican Grds. Co. B.)
April 8, 1862 - Illinois, captured at Islsnd No. 10
1862 - Camp Douglas, IL., to be exchanged at Vicksburg, MS.
Sept., 23, 1862 - Exchanged from Str. John H. Done, near Vicksburg
(Dischanged as a Sergeant)
August 23, 1863 - Mobile, organization of 1st Mobile Volunteers
(When did Lawrence enlist?)
March 28, 1864 - Mobile, marriage to Julia Moran
February 1865 - Mobile, birth of Lawrence's son
1866 - Julia is is listed as a widow
Thanks again guys :-)
