Two or three Abner Knights
Mon Apr 23 14:42:12 2001
This thread prompted me to do some research on Abner Knight.
I have an Abner Knight on the initial roll of the Calhoun Guard, formed in Providence, Pickens County, Alabama on 6/9/1860. His residence is shown as Pickens County.
In the index of the 1860 census of Alabama, two Abner Knights are shown. One is living in Walker County and the other in Calhoun County. [Not one shown in Pickens County.]
There are no Abner (or "A.") Knights shown living in Alabama in the index for the 1870 census.
As mentioned, I also show an Abner Knight in the 11th Ala. Inf., Co. H.
Providence!
