If after reading the posts there, anybody has any suggestions on how to help the situation, please post here on this board and/or on the N.C. board.

Here’s info on the Alabama soldiers there:

Dear Mr. Lowe:
From the casualty list found in the Official Records, Volume XXIX, pages 412-413, the 3rd, 5th Battalion, 6th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 26th Alabama Infantry Regiments fought at the Battle of 10/14/1863. The 10th Alabama had a camp at Bristoe Station 1861-1862 and established a cemetery there to place those lost to disease. The names I've come across are as follows:

13th Alabama

STAGGENS, DAVIS R. Lieutenant, Co. G, Killed 10/14/63 at Bristoe Station NA1

26th Alabama
James A. Dunn Pvt., Co. K; Enlisted September 14, 1862. Wounded while posted as skirmisher at the Battle of Bristoe Station on October 14, 1863. Recovered and present at Andersonville (for guard duty). Brother of W. W. Dunn of same Co. K. (http://www.rootsweb.com/~alcw26/CompanyK.htm)

Stephen A. McGinnis Private, Co. A, Wounded and captured at South Mountain on September 14, 1862. Sent to Fort Delaware. Sent to Aikens Landing, Virginia on October 2, 1862 for exchange and exchanged on November 10. Wounded with gunshot wound to back on October 14, 1863 while taking Kettle Run RR Bridge at Battle of Bristoe Station. Admitted to Hospital #9 in Richmond on the 19th and then transferred to Howards Grove on the 20th. Given 40 day leave on November 16, 1863. Listed as Sgt. and absent without leave on April 27, 1864. Paroled in Columbus, Mississippi on May 26, 1865.

David Newton Wheeler Private, Co.D, Born September 11, 1837 in Fayette County, Alabama and enlisted December 7, 1861. Wounded at South Mountain on September 14, 1862 and was in Columbus, Mississippi in on March 21, 1863. Wounded with gunshot wound to left leg partially injuring tibia bone at Bristoe Station, Virginia on October 14, 1863. Admitted to #9 Hospital on October 18 and transferred to Alabama Hospital on October 19. Given 60 day furlough home to Big Pond, Alabama on October 28, 1863. Patient in Madison Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama in April, 1864. Rejoined Regiment and paroled upon surrender at Greensboro, North Carolina on April 26, 1865. Applied for pension in Fernbank, Lamar County, Alabama. Died May 5, 1913 in Lamar County, Alabama (30).

Edward Marmaduke Turner Captain, Co. F, Born in December 1, 1836 in Walker County, Alabama and enlisted December 7, 1861 as 1st Lt. Served early 1862 as AQM. Wounded at Chancellorsville on May 3, 1863 as Captain and admitted to #11 Hospital in Richmond. Returned to duty on July 31, 1863 so he wasn't present at Gettysburg. Wounded at Bristoe Station in October, 1863 and admitted to Hospital #4 in Richmond for contusions. Promoted to Captain and present at Andersonville as Captain. Wounded in action around Chattahootchie River on July 4, 1864 and admitted to Lee Hospital. Fought all the way through and paroled at Surrender in Greensboro, North Carolina on April 26, 1865 (the only 1863 Captain to do so). Lived in Greensboro, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama in 1921.
