Manassas deaths

If you are looking for Confederate soldiers who died as a result of the Battle of First Manassas, there are about 500 Confederates (of which the Manassas casualties are a part) who are buried at Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper, Virginia- including members of the 4th Alabama. Soldiers who were badly wounded or who became gravely ill after the battle were transferred to the hospital at Culpeper Court House. Those who died were buried in the cemetery next to the hospital, but there were so many burials that the local citizens later forced authorities to exhume the bodies and move them to their present location at Fairview, which is just west of town off US 522. Most of the wooden grave markers were lost or were illegible when they went to move the bodies, so they were put into a mass grave and they used hospital relarge monument with the names of these soldiers on it towards the center of the cemetery.

There is a book that has been published listing the dead at Culpeper Co.- I am at work and can't remember the exact name of it, but I can look it up later.
