There's a pension application made in Chilton County AL by Wilson B. Tyler. He says he belonged to Capt. John Bryer's State Reserve Company. This was a mounted unit raised in a specific county, but I don't know which one. The captain's name was really Breare, but of course if you can't read or write, that doesn't mean much. This name appears in the miscellaneous records spelled various ways, such as Brewer, Brayer and Bryer. His application was dated May 29, 1893. You might search the message board under the word "Reserves" to read more about what the State Reserves were.
