Looking through the Ala. Misc. records (reel 506), there is a record for a man who belonged to Lowe's Regiment, Captain Hale's Company. Perhaps this is the Hale mentione in your post. Lowe led an irregular mounted unit in northeast Alabama during the last year of the war which he called the 13th Alabama Cavalry. If you search under "Lowe's" on the message board you should find some earlier discussion of this man. The soldier I mentioned earlier was captured by Croxton's cavalry at Trundel's Bridge near Munford, Alabama, April 25, 1865.

There's a pension application by Elijah Clifton, Co. "B", 55th Alabama who was wounded in the left arm at Shiloh Apr. 6, 1862. At the time of the battle it was known as Co. "A", Clifton's [10th] Alabama Battalion, serving with a Kentucky Brigade led by Col. Trabue. It doesn't include anything about his age, but I'd have to conclude he's the man that belongs to the tombstone. Wish I could help further.
