Hayes, one medical department position I neglected to mention is one called "Medical Purveyor". I'm not sure exactly what this position entailed, but if memory serves me correctly, it was at corps level or higher. Even though I'm an ex-corpsman, the hierarchy of the Confederate army medical department is way beyond my limited expertise.
