Dear Wanda,
You are in luck. I have a record of a Garett also spelled Jarrat Gray
assigned to Company G of the 41st Alabama. He was 38 years old when he
enlisted in the regiment. His county of enlistment was Tuscaloosa. There
is only two items connected with his service record. He was "Absent without
Leave" during the Nov/Dec 1863 time frame. He was on a leave of indulgence
and overextended his stay at home. He died 6 March 1864 in a hospital in
Virginia. The 41st was at Bristol during this time frame. He was likely
at the CSA Hospital at Liberty, Va. when he passed away. Hope this info
helps.
The book I am publishing on the 41st Alabama would tell the story of what
happened to him from the time of his enlistment through the time of his
death. The chronology of events affecting all members of the regiment is
well documented in the 644 page text. Regards. Bill M.
