Looking for any information on this unit from Cherokee County. Looking for an Elijah J Clifton. According to the 1907 census of veterans in Etowah County, he enlisted in Dow Hale's home guard in 1864. His tomstone lists him as serving in the 55th, but can't find an Elijah J, only Elijah G or just Elijah, and both were too old to be this Elijah J, who was born in 1848.
