Susan, I have Alfred listed as a married farmer at the time of his enlistment on June 11, 1861. On the July/August Muster Roll of 1861, he had returned to camp after being sent sick to Richmond. He was present at the following engagments: Seven Pines, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, skirmish near Reams Station, the Crater, White's Tavern, Davis Farm, and Reams Station. He was wounded in the trenches around Petersburg on September 14, 1864, and was admitted to Howard's Grove hospital in Richmond on September 16, 1864. On January 15, 1865, he was admitted to Way Hospital at Meridian, Mississippi, and was paroled on May 23, 1865, at Columbus, Mississippi. This information comes from his records at the National Archives, and the Montgomery archives. I am reseaching for a work on the 11th Alabama, and would appreciate hearing from you with any additional information you may have on Alfred, such as burial location, marriage information, children, and photo. Thanks
