While I was searching for info on the reenactors, I came across this information and thought this would be a good place to post (in case anybody in the future searches on "44th" to find this info).

Several men of the 44th Ala. Inf. were transferred to the 3rd Ark. Inf. I found this on the Gerdes Arkansas pages, look for the muster rolls of the 3rd Ark. for specific names(prepared by Bryan Howerton). Several are listed under "regimental musicians" section. It also appears that some of the Alabama men joined the 3rd Ark. directly [See the Bailey men of the musicians section].
