Hi again,
I wanted to tell you that a distant cousin of mine on the Beams side sent me copies of John B. Beams Civil War papers. His Alabama pension No. was 5902, he enlisted August 7, 1861, Moores Bridge, AL and was discharged May 1865, Witnesses were B.M. Freeman and C. Winter.

On the application it has that he was wounded while serving in company G, 38th TN Vols. at Chickamango Sept. 20 1863 when he was shot by a shell which paralyzed his right arm. and on another application Title: Use of Leg Lost, Relief by Soldiers maimed or diabled during the Late War it states that while serving with the 38th TN he was wounded at Missionary Ridge on August 7, 1862 which caused the lost of use of his right leg. There are also copies of his Muster Roll. On the muster roll dated March 1, 1863 the remarks are "returned since last mustered , Hospital Chattanooga." and on muster roll dated July & Aug 1863 he was absent because he was " sent to hospital August 29, 1863." On muster roll dated Sept 1. 1864 he was present but "sick in hospital". On muster roll dated Oct. 31, 1863 it has "Present, convalescent.

I thought this might be helpful in your endeavor.
