Any idea how they were equipped at this time? Usually, the Provost Guards had the worst equipment as far as arms went. The is logical, since the better weapons were saved for those on the front line, and the Provost Guard didn't need a whole lot of "firepower". From what I've seen, they were often equipped with flintlocks! At best, I think, they might have had "forage guns". Their bravery and enthusiasm in the mentioned charge would be even more spectacular if they were carrying flintlocks or forage guns!
