CSA Dead at Chickamauga

Jeff, I've extensively researched Arkansas troops, including the many regiments which were engaged at Chickamauga. Those who were killed in action were buried on the field. Since the South won this fight, large numbers of seriously and mortally wounded Arkansas soldiers were able to be evacuated to hospitals all over northern and central Georgia, instead of being left on the field to the tender mercies of the Union army. Even those who lived only a few days after being wounded were evacuated. Large numbers of the most seriously wounded died and were buried at Rome and Marietta, Georgia. Others were sent as far as Athens, Atlanta, Augusta, La Grange and Macon, where some died and were buried. I would assume that Alabama regiments would have evacuated their wounded in much the same manner -- to Rome and Marietta, then perhaps on to Alabama or to other places in Georgia.
