Want to learn what was going on that my ggrandfather died 14 November 1866. He was a plantation manager and his journal indicates optimism. Name: Dr. Hargrove Hinkley, recently returned from War service as a surgeon. Huntsville Advocate covering that date missing where I looked. I feel sure there was Reconstruction troubles that caused his sudden death. Please help me find the story here. His widow later married Col. Isiah B. Smaw there.
