You would be interested in only the period of time that Clarkson was assigned to this regiment. Here's a syummary of his service with the 13th Ala.:

Henry M. Clarkson. Appointed Assistant Surgeon April 30, 1862, to rank March 24, 1862; assigned to duty April 5, 1862. Promoted Surgeon July 9, 1863, to rank March 23, 1863. Relieved; ordered to Lynchburg, Virginia, August 28, 1863.

Here's a summary of that period of time:

During the siege of Yorktown, the 13th Alabama served in Rains’s Fourth Brigade of D. H. Hill’s Division, Army of Northern Virginia. Rains was relieved after the Battle of Seven Pines, Virginia (May 31-June 1, 1862), leaving Colonel Alfred H. Colquitt in command of the brigade during the Seven Days Battles (June 25-July 1, 1862) and the Maryland Campaign (Sept. 3-20, 1862).

After an inactive role in the Battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia (December 11-15, 1862), the 13th Alabama transferred to Brigadier General James J. Archer’s Brigade of A. P. Hill’s Division on January 19, 1863. When the Army of Northern Virginia reorganized preceding the Gettysburg Campaign (June 3-August 1, 1863), Archer’s Brigade formed part of Major General Henry Heth’s division in A. P. Hill’s First Corps.

Archer was captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 1, 1863, and heavy losses obliged the temporary consolidation of his brigade with that of General Pettigrew on July 10, 1863. Subsequently the Virginia regiments of General Henry H. Walker merged with Archer’s.

I hope this helps. To my knowledge there's not a regimental history of the 13th Alabama.
