Among the 9203 men who served in Arkansas Union regiments, I've run across a small number (a few dozen) who are known to have used aliases. In just about all cases, this information came to light long after the war when they began applying for U.S. veteran's pensions. Of those who used aliases, most appear to have lived in those parts of the state which contained strong pro-secession sentiments -- central and south Arkansas mostly.
