Ron Fields' AMERICAN CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE ARMY says that the Dale County Beauregards, Co. "E", wore a uniform of white osnaburg with blue stripes on the rousers and jackets. The Henry Pioneers, Co. "G", went to war in red flannel shirts.

He gives more details about uniforms that were generally supplied to Alabama's troops in Virginia, from the state depot in Richmond. The proposed uniform was a single-breasted, 7-button jacket with low standing collar and pocket inside the left breast; straps were attached to the shoulders, and five inch-long belt loops sewn on the bottom of the jacket on the side seams. Pantaloons were to be cut full. The great coat also had a standing collar, and was fastened by seven large brass military buttons. The cape reached to the elbow with five small buttons on the right, and was removeable and fastened to the collar with six hooks and eyes.

However, these uniforms were to be made by various soldiers' aid societies and textile companies. Uniformity (no pun intended) was achieved by sending out samples and clothing patterns to the groups involved.
