Hayes Lowe
41st and Cottles

I'm almost positive that the 41st was still incamped at Tuscaloosa in July 1862. I know for a fact that they were still there on June 15, 1862. Without have done any real research on the camp location, my guess is that this encampment was most likely just behind the present location of the "Old Tavern", in what is now a park. When the regiment did leave Tuscaloosa, it went to Chattanooga.

I don't have your J.P. Cottles listed, either.

The only Cottles that I have in a Pickens County company is J.L. Cottles, who enlistedin the 11th Ala. Inf., Company H. (Died in hospital at Richmond, 11/30/1861. Age 26.)
