Thanks you! I didn't know where he was buried.

Silas Hosmer was captain of the "Jemison Guards", an infantry company recruited in Tuscaloosa and Jefferson Counties. Organized by a Captain Waller, members entered Confederate service at Tuscaloosa, Ala., on August 5, 1861. Evidently Waller resigned and Hosmer promoted in his place before the company submitted its muster roll at Columbus, Miss., Oct. 28, 1861. Officers and men reported to camp at Tuscumbia, Ala. two days later, requesting assignment to a five-company battalion led by Lt.Col William Russell Smith. Smith was a well-known political figure from the Tuscaloosa area and a member of the first class at the University of Alabama ('33). A sketch of this gentleman appears in Owen's Dictionary of Alabama Biography, 4:1597.

Hosmer's unit was accepted as Company “F” of Smith's 3rd Ala. Inf. Battn. However, Hosmer died of disease while in camp at Tuscumbia. A brief sketch of Captain Hosmer appears in Owen, 3:846. A. B. Favor was promoted captain of this unit, which later became Company “G”, O'Neal's 26th Alabama Infantry Regiment.

Thanks again.....
