There's no record in any of the documents that I mentioned: no Alabama pension, no 1907 census entry in any of those counties, and nothing in 'Confederate Veteran' magazine when he died. Sometimes obituaries appeared in that magazine.

Unless there's something on a home guard unit from the Bucksville area at the ADAH, I'm out of ideas about where to look. Of course we'd be pleased to receive other suggestions from the message board. I'm lookin at my soon-to-be thirteen-year old and thinking that he'd have to be older and wiser before I'd let him sign up in a home guard, let alone anything more serious.
