My gg grandfather Abram Chappell and his two sons, William and John Henry served in the 17th Alabama Infantry Regiment.Abram was captured and sent to Camp Douglas Illinois and later became a "galvanized yankee" in the 5th US Volunteer Infantry. He settled in Lee County after the war. He was married to Elizabeth Candler and she was related to the Lowes.
