These are the two categories that I am aware of, but I'm sure there are more. Surely there were assigned cooks at Forts and Camps (like the Talladega Camp of Instruction).Hospital cooks, from the examples that I've seen, usually were disabled men who were assigned to the hospital on detached duty. Same for medical orderlies, too.Personal servants were eligible for veteran benefits (i.e. pensions), so there is no clue in that.
