I gather that Howard/Marion was not a military based curriculum until the latter part of the 19th Century. This makes sense, as Howard was a Baptist college. Although the Baptist church does not seem to have been as opposed to the violence of war as were the Methodists.

And, as I stated with Centenary Institute, I would guess that all Alabama colleges were military based programs during the war.
