Confusing to say the least, I don’t know that I have much to add. The data base I a using shows: (All numbers are National Archive Box, Roll and Number)

I hope I typed these numbers correctly. You may wish to secure the compiled service records of these men. They may shed a little light on your quest. As far as names on tombstones, many of these stones were put up recently and they were depending on the information available, and mistakes are made. When they are in more than one unit, they have to pick one for the stone. I have run into this before.
