Of course he could be in a Georgia unit since Cherokee is right on the state line. Keep in mind that Etowah was created largely out of Cherokee after the war, so the county was larger then. All or part of at least two dozen companies were recruited in Cherokee County. At least two thousand men from Cherokee County served in Alabama commands.Re: Cherokee County units....
