Alabama Confederate Soldiers 1861-1865 (Ed:JB Hewett; Broadfoot Pub.1999)lists one of my ancestors as having served in Mil. 4th Vol. Co. E. Is there a history on line for this unit? Anyone have any info at their fingertips, such as where the men were from regionally, or duty they served? I've read some of the commentaries on this board concerning AL militias and get the impression that at least some were transformed into regular military units. Will appreciate hearing from one of the militia experts out there. Thank you, K.
