Pleasant B. McBride enlisted in Co. E, 29th (later redesignated 37th) Arkansas Infantry, at Princeton, Arkansas, on May 8, 1862; age 25. He was dropped from the rolls with the notation that he had died in a hospital at Little Rock on August 8, 1862. His widow Eda Ann McBride filed a claim for his accrued pay and allowances on May 16, 1863, but stated in her claim that he had actually died in Hot Spring County on the date reported. Pleasant and Eda McBride are listed in the 1860 census of Calhoun County, Arkansas. He was listed as a farmer, age 23, born in Tennessee.
