I think that it rules out that they were in the U.S. Vols. The family history does not state that they served in the Union Army when sent to Montana, but I thought that it was a probability...considering where they were paroled and where they were sent. I think that it is highly unlikely that they would have been a part of any other Union State regiment. Thanks for looking!
