Pauline Mitchell PierceCharles J. Floyd of Co. H. 18th Ala. Inf. Reg.Wed Feb 28 13:31:02 2001 I recently had a researcher doing some work for me at the Alabama archives. She sent me the Confederate Military record for C. J. Floyd who was a brother of my ancestor Evan M. Floyd. Family tradition has always been that Charles J. died at Shiloh, but from his record that could not have been.C. J. Floyd enlisted in Co. H. 18th Ala Inf Reg as a private at Troy, Ala 5 Sept. 1862. The engagements he fought in were Perryville, Chickamauga, Lookout Mtn., Missionary Ridge, Ringgold, & Rocky Face Ridge. So he had to have died after 25 Feb 1864, but where. She sent the other brother Timothy Green Floyd's pension records but no service record. He said that he was a private in Co. H, 18th Reg. Ala Vol, that on the 6 Apr 1862 he was wounded in the head breaking the skull, jaw & right shoulder, that the bullet is still in his head. In his wife's application for pension she said that he was paroled April 1865, he served under Col. Holcough & Capt Ruffin, that he died in Troy on 17 Dec 1898 and another place that he died on 17 Dec 1899.I would like to know if Evan M. & Timothy G. enlisted at the same time. I have an original photo of my g.g.grandfather Evan M. and the only other identification is his brother, but which one.I would appreciate so much any help I might receive on this.Re: Charles J.
