A service record exists for James T. Meders in a companion unit, the 20th Alabama. Nothing else under any of the variant spellings for this name. Here's the info for his company:
Company “D” of Bibb County “Bibb Rangers”

Capt. Richard Hopkin Pratt. Captured at Port Gibson, Mississippi, May 1, 1863. Exchanged at City Point, Virginia, [March 6,] 1865. Recommended for promotion to Major on March 15, 1865. [UA/55]

This company organized at Schultz Creek Baptist Church in Bibb County, Alabama. It was accepted in Confederate service September 9, 1861, at Scottsville, Ala., officers commissions bearing the same date. Survivors surrendered at Salisbury, North Carolina, as Company “H”, consolidated 20th Alabama Infantry Regiment.

Do you know where he lived at the time of the war?
