4th Alabama Infantry records are among best and most complete available. They run right into 1865 and usually include a list of battles and skirmishes for each soldier.
Thta's obviously not the case here.

When a man's name surfaces like this with just a few items on file, it's almost always because he belongs to another unit. Records of men who belonged to Roddey's 4th or Russell's 4th Ala. Cav. are sometimes misfiled with the 4th Infantry. I believe that's what happened here.
