I also found my other great-great-grandfather, John Franklin Etheridge in Co. E., 43rd Ala....Inf. I have a piece of paper that another great-grandfather, Thomas Jefferson James had left home to join war at age 15..but war was over. Would he had listed in 43rd. from Marengo county..Ala. or another unit...What would had happened to his enlistment papers? Where would they have sent a fifteen year old boy?
