Coal Fire Guards.
This was a Fayette County company, with all members noted as citizens of Fayette County. The company was organized on 7/29/1861. It was tendered to the State of Alabama for Confederate service soon thereafter, but not accepted. The reason for non-acceptance is not noted in the record. I don't have a copy of the file, but if I recall correctly, this was not a 12 month company.
