I really don't know enough about the person you wish to identify to comment except on individual records. It's darned peculiar to have two men from the same community by the same name and about the same age. The man in Goldsby's Company has a subsitute in service, so he obviously didn't want to be out with Morgan or anyone else. The ordnance officer appears to have been on loan from a Georgia Battery stationed in Atlanta. Also, he's a 1st Lt and the Kentucky records are for a 2nd Lt. You need to see the Kentucky records, but they must be for a later period only since they refernce an 1864 ad hoc formation. I'd be surprised to find much there. Also, I'd want to know something about the 9th Tennessee to help explain why this man's not on file with that unit. Are 9th records that sparse? That might explain why he's not listed there as he should be. You are expecting an 1862 enlistment.
